Cosmetic surgery for beginners

Cosmetic surgery is usually performed to correct a physical abnormality or to enhance an otherwise normal physical feature and thus improve appearance. Cosmetic surgery is an extremely broad field that may offer reconstructive surgery for a patient after a damaging burn or other physical trauma, yet can also be used to smooth out wrinkles, enlarge breasts, or reshape a nose. Cosmetic surgery is usually done in one of two types of facilities, either a hospital or a private clinic. A private clinic is one that is not affiliated with a hospital. Cosmetic surgery is a very popular avenue for personal enhancement.

Cosmetic surgery is an option people choose for varying reasons. Whether it be a requirement for a tummy tuck with liposuction after child birth. Cosmetic Surgery is a part of Plastic Surgery although looking at the people performing it, many of them are not proper residency-trained plastic surgeons. For some minor procedures, this is probably not too worrisome, but is some cases it can be pretty scary. Cosmetic surgery is one way to address them.

Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, is a plastic surgery procedure which uses implants to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. Breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed today, and it continually produces satisfied and extremely pleased patients. Breast implants also interfere with mammography and increase the likelihood of insufficient lactation when a woman tries to breast-feed. Breast augmentation surgery continues to be in the top three most performed and desired cosmetic surgeries here in the US (and abroad). What concerns most women thinking about breast augmentation is the possibility she may be dissatisfied with the outcome, or have complications of some sort.

Patients like this will not experience as much of an improvement with liposuction as patients with most abdominal fat stored subcutaneously. Patients frequently travel across the country to come for consultations and plastic surgery procedures. I take great pride in making our center one of the premier centers for cosmetic surgery in the Tampa, Fl area.

Plastic surgery may be divided into cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. The former is performed for enhancement of one’s physical appearance (such as rhinoplasty, liposuction, or breast augmentation). Plastic Surgery to elicit improvements in appearance, though in existence for hundreds of years, was still the preserve of the neurosis suffering elite – mainly Hollywood celebrities and high-society. Fast forward to the present day and the medical profession has come a long way. Plastic surgery isn’t about the procedure, it’s about YOU. That’s why my first priority is to listen to YOU; then uncover and understand your hopes and needs.

Perhaps there are several areas you’d like to improve. With today’s emphasis on youth and health, many find that facial cosmetic surgery is the answer for creating the image one desires. Perhaps unsurprisingly, cosmetic surgery patients are more likely than average to have a poor body image.

Ask if your surgeon is “board certified” in surgery. This means they are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons and have passed another review by surgeons of their surgical practices. Ask about preparation, recovery time, risks and other pertinent questions. Don?t forget to ask where the procedure will take place. Ask Lesley if she has fillers round her crows feet. She does because I am a dentist who carries out these treatments.
