Sports massage is of four kinds, namely, restorative sports massage, pre-event sports massage, post-event sports massage and rehabilitative sports massage. The type of massage provided to an athlete, during the training session is referred to as restorative massage . Sports massage is a specialized form of therapeutic massage that focuses specifically on muscles that are used most during a client’s sport or regular activity.

For a lot of athletes, both age-group and elite, it’s a fundamental part of their training regime, and vital for preventing injuries.
Sports Massage is beneficial before and after training sessions and competitions, and on a regular or “maintenance” basis. For optimal health and peak performance, a regimen of weekly or biweekly sessions lasting 45-60 minutes is suggested for the active athlete. Sports massage is also used for injury rehabilitation.
